Client Overview.
ShipOCI is a third-party logistics (3PL) provider that offers holistic supply chain management across multiple modes of transportation. Based in Miami, FL, ShipOCI manages freight by air, sea, rail and land, including cold chain management.
Problems & Requirements.
ShipOCI had been heavily reliant on physical paperwork, as containers entered their warehouse. Truck drivers were required to fill out lengthy forms, thereby consuming long periods of time while also increasing the likelihood of errors.
Warehouse pallets allocated to goods were also manually tracked by means of physical tags. This also created downtime, since tags would have to be manually tracked before goods could be verified and released.
As a result, ShipOCI aimed to automate the key processes within its warehouse management operation, while also focusing on an approach that was less reliant on paper.
Solution.
EFutures developed a closely integrated solution, by emphasizing on the biggest requirements that ShipOCI had i.e. automation, and a paperless approach.
With a microservices-based software architecture, a modularization concept has been achieved that eliminates silos, while still offering each module the leverage to independently scale, if required.
Modules/portals include:
- Warehouse management module.
This consists of digitizing paperwork through handheld devices, which warehouse personnel offer to truck drivers for form filling. Keystrokes have been reduced through autofill provided by intelligent predictions, so errors arising out of manual entry have been reduced.
Physical warehouse tags have been replaced with real-time geolocation mapping. Forming the hub for all automation operations, all other modules and portals revolve around warehouse management.
- Customer portal.
A system dedicated towards offering customers real-time shipment tracking and updates, the customer portal relies on integrated inventories of both inbound and outbound shipments – as well as a third-party geolocation mapping tool for maximum tracking accuracy.
- Accounting portal.
Offering Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable capabilities as well as cash flow reports, accounting teams rely on a central source of truth for all operations, thanks to close integration with automated inventory and warehouse data.
- Sales portal.
Built for sales teams, quotes and invoices can be automatically generated directly from the system.
- HRM portal.
HRM portal is a comprehensive platform allowing seamless management of employee information, vacations, payroll details, and incorporates an efficient incident reporting function.
- Training portal.
Empowers users to craft tailored onboarding sessions for new employees, enabling them to gain insights into warehouse procedures and grasp the workings of the entire system.
